Your next doctor visit
Preparing for your next doctor visit
At your next check-up, your doctor will do blood tests to check your cholesterol levels and make sure the medications you are taking are working as expected.
This is a good time to ask the doctor about your progress in lowering cholesterol. You can also share anything you have observed, including side effects. Also, make sure you understand any changes in your prescriptions before you leave the office.
Questions you might want to ask:
- What are my HDL, LDL, and triglyceride levels? What is my total cholesterol?
- Have I reached optimum levels for total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, and triglycerides?
- If not, how close am I to optimum levels? Are we making progress?
- What else can we do to reduce my health risks?
Information that's important to share:
- Side effects or new symptoms you feel
- Any vitamins, supplements or over-the-counter medications you're taking
- Any other medications you're taking
- Dietary changes you've made since the last visit
- Exercise you've started since the last visit
